While the school was founded and broke ground in the summer of 1887 under the name of Episcopal Military Institute Association the Board of Directors named the school St. John’s School in october 1888. Therefore laying the groundwork for the first class to graduate on June 8 1890. The first commencement consisted of 38 cadets and 2 graduates.
